Gaga for GOLD

This week we have been quite busy, but we found some really good (gold) stuff.   Justin has a green wedding ring chenille bedspread, but we found this pretty gold one for $8!  I think it really brings out the rich tones of the Brasilia wood and makes his room feel quite warm.  The starburst pattern on the spread is amazing.

We also found this lamp that seems very brutalist in it's design.  This is not the original shade, but goes to show you that buying cool shades when you see them pays off.  The green in the shade matches perfectly with the green in the lamp.  The only problem is, we don't know where to put it!

We found this serving cart in mint condition!  I really don't think any one ever used it.  The cool thing about it is that it folds up.  I just think the wheels are so amazing.  I'm a sucker for the gold flecks! ($5!!)

These spaghetti glasses from the fifties are in amazing condition.  Each one was only $2, and we found them at the local Value Village.  What a steal. And don't they look divine on the serving cart?

Meanwhile, Ely needed another piece for his developing living room decor. Something to sit on. This is a little small (and not really supposed to be a living room chair) but it is really in perfect condition and the fabric is amazing. The only flaw is the gold feet- The brass is all worn out. Ely will be using his gold pen on them most likely. It also has some storage inside for magazines!

You can't really see it, but there are more gold flecks in this (plastic-y) fabric.

More Finds. A cool mirror and a record holder to hold the records for Ely's new beloved stereo system.

Syroco + Giralt Lerin Paintings

Ely found a couple wall art gems this weekend, one of which will hang above my bed.

This Syroco piece is quite large, and will be perfect in my room because I already have some Syroco (the diamonds), as well as the gold star pillows on my bed. I'll take photos of it hanging up later!

The other piece is a Giralt Lerin print in an amazing mid century frame. The original painting was done in 1964.

PLEATS PLEASE

We love vintage Pinch Pleat curtains, and there seem to be lots of them popping up at thrift stores. In Seattle, at least. Yesterday we came across some that still were folded up and brand new with their directions still attached. I have needed curtains in my bedroom since I moved into my apartment a few months ago, so I got those.

Hanging them was the difficult part, because the little vintage hooks that came attached fit very tightly around the curtain rod- They are SUPPOSED to be hung with clip rings. This I did not realize until just recently.

For now, I hung them and they look nice (and block out the bright light in the morning). They may need to be hemmed though, they touch the floor a little too much, and they will moreso after I get the clip rings.

CHENILLE- WEDDING RING

When I was looking for bedding, I wanted something that was genuinely mid century and would go well with my Broyhill Brasilia bedroom (more about that later). Ely said there is nothing more mid century than chenille bedding, so I went on Ebay looking for something.
I found lots of chenille.  It seemed sort of country crafty but some of the pattern and color combinations had a very modern feeling. The "wedding ring" fabric I especially loved, so I bought an amazing green one. Pictures Below.

Soon after, I spotted the same exact bedspread on Mad Men Season 1:
