CHENILLE- WEDDING RING

When I was looking for bedding, I wanted something that was genuinely mid century and would go well with my Broyhill Brasilia bedroom (more about that later). Ely said there is nothing more mid century than chenille bedding, so I went on Ebay looking for something.
I found lots of chenille.  It seemed sort of country crafty but some of the pattern and color combinations had a very modern feeling. The "wedding ring" fabric I especially loved, so I bought an amazing green one. Pictures Below.

Soon after, I spotted the same exact bedspread on Mad Men Season 1:

Deluxe Junk, Final Goodbye

Today we decided to go to one of our favorite haunts, The Fremont Vintage Mall. We knew Deluxe Junk (a nearby store) was closing soon but we hoped it wasn't yet. As we walked by we realized that this was their last day of business. The sales woman (who we love) invited us back later to celebrate the end with friends and family at a party in the store.  She told us the dress code was all black, which we were already wearing.
It was an evening of both sadness and celebration for what was and what will be for the owners and shoppers.  All the mourners who made an appearance were quite colorful despite their dark attire.  A bagpipe player even lead us into the store with a death march. Parting is such sweet sorrow.

We also found several cute vintage cards (for 10 cents each!) and a great little vintage color pamphlet from 'Eaton.' Photos Below!!

Craigslist Finds

I just came across this mid century dresser and hutch- They appear to be Broyhill, and the design on the dresser looks similar to Broyhill's "Emphasis" line, but the handles are different. (If anyone happens to know, please share in the comments!) $75 for the dresser. For someone in the Seattle area, this is a deal!

Mid Century Fabric

Your local goodwill or value village might be a good place to find amazing vintage fabrics. I found all of these for very very low prices (and plan on making some pillows.. we have enough to make hundreds!)

One of the fabrics was designed by Lawrence Peabody for Sears. Googling him, the most interesting information I found was his obituary from 2002: http://joshuahudelson.com/writing/journalism/globe/Peabody.pdf

He sounds fabulous.

If you are near Ballard, right now there are some more of these big rolls of vintage fabric near the back of the store!

DELUXE JUNK

Sadly we have been mourning the passing of a Seattle institution: Deluxe Junk in Fremont. This store has been the place of many a great find. Just last year at Christmas we found some of the most amazing vintage mid century Christmas pieces ever! The last three weeks we have been stopping in to purchase a few of the remaining trinkets at bargain basement prices. Today we went in and the ol' gal is looking pretty empty, but we did find a couple of super cool things. This pristine Franciscan set of ashtrays was a particularly good deal at only around $40.

They are closing the 31st, so go to Deluxe Junk while you still can!!

INTRO/ Aurora Antique Pavillion

We are two Seattle boys looking for the treasures that we have fallen in love with. Broyhill Brasilia is our holy grail but we enjoy other aspects of Mid Century decor- (we like the modern things but it isn't the end all for us.) Here we plan on sharing with you our finds through our adventures in antique malls, estate sales, thrift stores, peoples' garages, and of course- craigslist. We hope that you are as inspired as we our by the amazing pieces we find, and that you will share with us in return.

As we begin our adventures with you we like to share a few of our recent favorites......

These, we found at the Aurora Antique Pavillion: http://www.auroraantiquepavilion.com/

It was our first time visiting this store- we were AMAZED at the volume of pieces available here. Furniture, glass, accessories.... everything. The prices were not too bad either, especially on kitchen stuff and vases.
